Beth Ditto is an icon of girl power and body positivity (read: not giving a shit) and a firm fashion favourite. Long time collaborator with Marc Jacobs and Jean Paul Gautier, Ditto has ventured out on her own to design and deliver a curvy collection that refuses to quit.
Beth Ditto’s 11 piece collection is loud and proud, this collection doesn’t stand in the back wearing oversized black in the hope of turning invisible. Ditto has thrown away the rule book for curvy bodies with reckless abandon, bursting to the seams with bright, colourful prints and bold colouring. It has all the fun, edge and spirit you would expect from The Gossip’s front-woman.
Championing curvy bodies, Ditto has declared her collection as “unapologetic”. With sizes ranging from 18-32, these pieces’ sole purpose is to celebrate bigger bodies rather than be the ‘afterthought’ plus size range, tagged onto existing brands. The look book is styled by legendary Katie Grand and photographed by Ezra Petronio and features curve model sensation Barbie Ferreira, Philomena Kwao and Beth Ditto herself, throwing power poses and embracing their bodies.
These are statement pieces created to last, made ethically in the US, Ditto has longevity in mind. Fun an playfulness is at the heart of the collection, for example the statement t-shirt dress featuring that iconic Jean Paul Gautier corset. Non-conformity heralds here, but with new feminine life rather than a punk aesthetic, the collection is genuine and its accessible, and most importantly totally unafraid.
