Cosmopolitan Espana magazine has developed a social initiative called Body Love, the aim of which is to help women build their self-esteem and to aid in the fight against eating disorders.

According to Cosmopolitan, the “current ideal female beauty concept is far away from real women, who have curves, imperfections and real measurements.” For this reason, they have developed a Body Love section on their website, full of articles, advices and testimonials around body issues.

With the initiative now in its second year, the April 2011 issue portrays seven famous female personalities from Spanish music and TV photographed in their underwear, discussing their bodies and feelings. The printed version is supported by a series of videos - under the slogan “I love my body”- with the celebrities during the photo shoot.

In my opinion, this is an interesting editorial, with feminine pictures and nice interviews. However, Cosmopolitan magazine should go beyond and balance it with the images they use for fashion and beauty articles in each issue.
