WOW, the meeting pictured above feels a VERY long time ago… and it was! This picture was taken at one of the very first team meetings at the National Portrait Gallery on 12th November 2010!
A lot of work, sweat and tears (of joy, mostly!) has gone into the organisation of our big event at the Gallery tonight and as a team we are so excited to be able to share it all with you all! Tonight’s event, named SNAPPED, is a celebration of diverse beauty and a message to the fashion industry that high-fashion is just as beautiful, appealing and magazine-editorial-worthy on beautful women of all shapes, sizes, ages and ethnicities.
We will be exclusively revealing NINE previously unseen fashion portraits by internationally renowned photographer RANKIN, showcasing Spring Summer ’11 creations by top British designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Mathew Williamson, Giles Deacon, Osman Yousefzada and more, on All Walks’ diverse models aged 18-80 and a range of sizes and ethnicities. BEAUTIFUL!
RANKIN’s images will form a trail around the gallery, linking with historical portraits in the permanent collection.
History of Dress academic Proffessor Aileen Ribiero of the Courtault Institute, author of “The Gallery of Fashion”, took the All Walks founders on a walk-and-talk around the gallery. The dialogue from this walk-about has been used to create the ‘Rankin Trail’. Here are some lovely images of the original trail with Prof. Ribiero:
